Alexis Akrithakis kept diaries and notebooks throughout his entire life. In them the artist recorded his every day life from the early days in Paris to the last years in Athens. A glimpse of history as it happened. Happy days, anxiety, travels, women he loved and other encounters. They store his thoughts, drawings and preliminary sketches of the works he created together with lists of materials, exhibition works and contacts. They are an invaluable source of information giving unparalleled insights on aspects of the personal life of Alexis Akrithakis as well as on his art.
A major posthumous exhibition presenting his notebooks, artist’s books, writings and drawings as well as illustrations and collaborations with poets and writers was held at the Arts Center of Athens in spring of 2018.
